Contact information

Feel free to contact me (Robin Peel) with any questions ... but you may get a quicker response by first searching the FAQ page on this web site.

Some guidelines for questions:

  • I travel a great deal on business trips, often overseas.  So please be patient in awaiting an answer - it may take several days (or longer).

  • If you still have questions about the process of creating and testing airport and navigation data for X-Plane (after having reviewed all the resources on this web site), then feel free to ask.  I will do my very best to respond (and to add additional information to this web site, if needed).

  • I do not create the majority of the content for the data files.  I just locate, consolidate and distribute the data.  So if there are errors or omissions I will usually need to contact the original source of the data before it can be corrected.

  • I have created many detailed custom airports for X-Plane, usually for the areas in which I live and fly in the 'real world' (currently in Seattle, Washington, USA).  But I cannot create airports 'on demand' for users - I simply do not have the time to do this.

Feedback on data issues

If you see errors or omissions in the data, please let me know at the e-mail address shown above.  If you make major updates to the data, then please follow these guidelines:

  • Please do not move any runways at any airports unless you are absolutely certain that they are wrong.  If you do feel it necessary to move the runways, then tell me in your e-mail and let me know why you think the existing data is wrong.  If you do move a runway, then you must make sure that any associated ILS is still properly positioned and aligned.

  • Test the new data in the latest version of  X-Plane.

  • Cut the appropriate sections of your edited data file into a new text file, and attach this text file to your e-mail to me.  You can combine multiple revisions to airports, nav-aids and fixes into a single text file - these can be all imported automatically into my master database from a single source file.

  • I do not usually include 'fictitious' data in the master database.  But there are some exceptions (eg. the airports on Mars).  I also usually show airports as they are at the present time - though there are exceptions for truly interesting airports (such as the old Hong Kong Kai Tak airport, VHXX, and its IGS 13 approach).  Each of these cases will be considered on its merit!

  • I try to acknowledge every update in the change log on this site.  Let me know if you wish to remain anonymous.  (Note that minor changes often do not trigger the automatic update of the change log.)

Many thanks for taking the time to send me updates to this data!

- Robin Peel, Seattle, Washington.
